JJ's JournalsThursday's Journal Today, the British kids came to are school and got a little tour around it. We got to learn about the other places Thomas Paine went to. The places he went to were Thetford, Sandwich, London, New York and lots of other places. My favorite Part of today was giving the British kids the tour around the school! Wednesday's Journal: Today we got to see some more guns but with bayonets. Max got dressed as a minute man. A minute man is a person who only works for a couple of weeks in the army. They would have a rifle waiting at their door with 30 pieces of ammo for the gun. The minute man could be called at any time. We also got to write with an ink pen, not the ones we have today, but the ones that were used in Thomas Paine’s time. It was really hard but fun. Tuesday's Journal Today we got to see some old guns. We also went on a walk through Thetford and spotted some old houses from the1700's and 1800's. Did you know there was a gun that was called a penalty gun because if you lived on a farm people would steal the animals so if you stepped on a trip wire, it led to the gun and shot it! Monday: Today we learned about Thomas Paine. He was born in 1737 and died in 1809. He grew up in Thetford. He went to Thetford Grammar School. We learned about his different jobs and places he lived. He tried to design bridges. We talked about his views of the world. We got to meet people from another school and played games with them. It was fun. |
